KC Streetcar Constructors to Move Rail for Track Construction

(Kansas City, MO) - KC Streetcar Constructors will work in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 5, and Monday, November 6 to move rail for track construction. The rail will be moved into the existing work zone on the east side of Main Street near 39th Street for track construction, and on the east side of Main Street near Westport Road to install the final piece of the Westport Crossover.

WHO: KC Streetcar Constructors in conjunction with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.

WHEN: For the safety of all and to limit disruptions to the traveling public on Main Street, crews will move rail for track construction starting at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 5, and will be complete by 7 a.m.

A crane and truck are scheduled to begin work to set the final piece for the Westport Crossover at 2 a.m. on Monday, November 6, and will be complete by 5 a.m.

WHERE: KC Streetcar Constructors will pull 960 feet of rail from the rail storage area near the intersection of Brookside Boulevard and 51st Street to the existing work zone on the east side of Main Street near 39th Street on Sunday, November 5.

A crane and truck are scheduled to move the final piece for the Westport Crossover from the construction yard near Brookside Boulevard and 49th Street to the existing traffic control on the east side of Main Street near the intersection of Westport Road on Monday, November 6.

Cross-traffic at the Brookside Boulevard intersections of 51st Street, 49th Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and the Main Street intersections of Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard, 46th Street, 45th Street, 43rd Street, 41st Street, 40th Street, 39th Street, 38th Street, and 37th Street will be temporarily halted until the rail, equipment and personnel have cleared the intersection. Officers with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department will assist with traffic control during this process to facilitate a safe and efficient operation.
