🚧 Traffic Changes Ahead: Linwood Boulevard 🚧

On Monday, January 29, KCSC crews will begin work at the Linwood Boulevard and Main Street intersection. Crews will be installing track along with building new crosswalks, curbs, sidewalks, and other pedestrian improvements. This work will happen in multiple phases to allow traffic to flow at the intersection.
Phase 7: Beginning Monday, July 8 and lasting for approximately 3-4 weeks, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Crews will be working in the northwest corner of Linwood Boulevard and Main Street. During this phase, crews will be finishing work on the track slab and then moving on to pedestrian upgrades including red crosswalk, ADA, curbs and sidewalk.

No left turns are allowed at this intersection.
The north and west crosswalks are closed during this phase. Pedestrians walking northbound should cross to the east side of Main Street at Armour Boulevard.
COMPLETED PHASES
COMPLETE Phase 1: Approximately one week, weather and unseen circumstances permitting.
Crews will begin work in the northeast corner of Linwood Boulevard and Main Street. During this phase, crews will demo the corner and grade for track. After this is complete, plates will be put over the hole for crews to move to the next phase.

The north crosswalk at this intersection will be closed. Pedestrians should cross to the southern side of Linwood Boulevard to cross this intersection.
No right turns will be allowed for westbound traffic on Linwood Boulevard onto Main Street.
No left turns will be allowed for westbound traffic on Linwood Boulevard onto Main Street.
No left turns will be allowed for eastbound traffic on Linwood Boulevard onto Main Street.
COMPLETE Phase 2B: Beginning Thursday, February 8 for approximately two days, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Crews will close the eastern portion of the Linwood Boulevard and Main Street intersection to pour concrete for track. This closure is anticipated to take two days to complete, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

The south and east crosswalks at this intersection will be closed. Pedestrians should cross Linwood Boulevard on the west side of Main Street or cross Main Street at the north side of Linwood Boulevard. Pedestrians can also walk to the Costco traffic signals to cross Linwood Boulevard. Pedestrians should follow the same detour used above in Phase 2.
No left turns are allowed at the intersection. No right turns are allowed for northbound traffic on Main Street onto Linwood Boulevard. To access East Linwood Boulevard, delivery trucks and the traveling public should use 31st Street or Armour Road to detour to Gilham Road. To access West Linwood Boulevard, delivery trucks and the traveling public should use 31st Street or Armour Road to detour to Broadway Boulevard.
COMPLETE Phase 2: Beginning Thursday, February 1 for approximately four weeks, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Crews will move into the southeast corner of Linwood Boulevard and Main Street for phase 2. During this phase, crews will demo and grade for track, build track, pour track concrete, pour new crosswalks, and build new curbs. This phase is anticipated to take 4 weeks to complete, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

The south and east crosswalks at this intersection will be closed. Pedestrians should cross Linwood Boulevard on the west side of Main Street or cross Main Street at the north side of Linwood Boulevard. Pedestrians can also walk to the Costco traffic signals to cross Linwood Boulevard.
No left turns will be allowed at this intersection for drivers. Vehicles should use Armour Boulevard, Broadway Boulevard, 31st Street, and/or Gillham Plaza to detour.
Toward the end of Phase 2, the communications team will provide an update on the next phases of this intersection.
COMPLETE Phase 3: This phase of work will continue until the end of May, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Crews continue work in the northeast corner of Linwood Boulevard and Main Street. During this phase, crews will be working in the intersection to build new crosswalks and curbs.

No right turns will be allowed for westbound traffic on Linwood Boulevard onto Main Street.
No left turns will be allowed for westbound traffic on Linwood Boulevard onto Main Street.
No left turns will be allowed for eastbound traffic on Linwood Boulevard onto Main Street.
COMPLETE Phase 4: This phase of work will begin on Monday, May 20 and last for approximately 1-2 weeks, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Crews will work in the northeast and northwest corners of Linwood Boulevard and Main Street to install underground electrical work.

No left turns will be allowed at Linwood Boulevard and Main Street.
COMPLETE Phase 5: Beginning Wednesday, June 5, and lasting for two days, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Linwood Boulevard west of Main Street will CLOSE on June 5, to pour concrete for track. Crews anticipate reopening the road by the end of the day on Thursday, June 6.

To access East Linwood Boulevard, use 31st Street or Armour Road to detour to Gillham Road.
To access West Linwood Boulevard, use 31st Street or Armour Road to detour to Broadway Boulevard.
The crosswalks at the north, south and west sides of Main Street and Linwood Boulevard are temporarily closed during this work. Pedestrians should use the crosswalk at the east side of the intersection.
COMPLETE Phase 6: Beginning Friday, June 7 and lasting for approximately 3-4 weeks, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
